This six-module course, led by Rev. Enger Muteteke, GCORR Senior Director of Programs and Education, explores how to recognize the gift of cultural differences in ministry settings and how colorblindness is not a benign framework.
Through videos, reflection opportunities, quizzes, other learning activities, and additional resources to support ongoing learning after the course, three key messages will be reinforced through this course:
Participants will learn three key messages through this course:
- Color blindness is not a benign framework, but one that is harmful to black, indigenous, people of color rendering them invisible.
- Seeing color and culture is vital to seeing the whole person and humanizing them.
- Accepting our own cultural identity helps us recognize and accept cultural differences as gifts.
The Course Objectives are to:
- Gain a clear understanding of how color blindness flattens humanity – especially the humanity of non-dominant races and cultures.
- Recognize the gift of cultural differences in ministry settings.
- Learn how understanding one’s own cultural identity can better equip them to recognize and accept the gift of cultural differences
